Abstract:The British government issued its industrial strategy in the white paper titled “Industrial Strategy：Building a Britain Fit for the Future” at the end of 2017. As a flagship policy of the May government，it has been seen as an essential plan for post-Brexit Britain. The strategy answered a wide call for change in British society and economy，reflecting a gradual shift of government thinking on industrial policies and searching for answers in the Brexit era. The industrial strategy is composed of “5 foundations”，“grand challenges”，“sector deals” and specific policies. It reflects consensus，and features continuity and creativity. The strategy also has the support of the government and the industry. However，it is faced with challenges and uncertainties：the hazard of Brexit and the ongoing debate about government intervention. The future of the industrial strategy merits further attention.
