Abstract:From 2020 to 2021，the political environment in São Tomé and Príncipe was stable. The two major political parties competed fiercely in presidential elections，in which the candidate from the Independent Democratic Action defeated other candidates. In the economic field，São Tomé and Príncipe has maintained economic growth despite the pandemic，the trade deficit has declined，and foreign investment and aid have increased significantly. While public finances have improved in 2020，government debt has continued to mount and international creditors have agreed to forgive and defer part of their debts. In the social area，the pandemic has adversely affected the social development of São Tomé and Príncipe. International agencies and other countries have provided generous assistance in protest materials，equipment and vaccines，and continued to support infrastructure construction. China and São Tomé and Príncipe have promoted bilateral cooperation in the fields of politics，economy and trade，and development assistance，and have assisted São Tomé and Príncipe with multiple batches of anti-pandemic materials.
