Abstract:2021 is a year of significant changes in the political and economic situation in Portugal. The 2022 Draft National Budget submitted by the Portugal’s socialist government was rejected by the parliament，and the Portuguese president was forced to call an early election. The current President Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa has presented his good image of being close to people and friendly，and won the presidential election held every five years without suspense. With the support of the European Recovery and Resilience Plan，Portugal has shown signs of economic recovery and growth by expanding domestic demand and promoting foreign trade. Social issues such as population aging pose challenges to the country’s future development. China-Portugal relations have maintained a momentum of steady development.
