Abstract:The American president Barack Obama believes that climate change has become a great threat，and he tries to resolve effectively the climate change problems，seeks to promote international cooperation on climate change，assume the joint responsibilities to fight climate change. President Obama released the Climate Action Plan，attempted to reduce carbon emission，dealt with the impact of climate change，continued to take the lead in the international actions for tackling global climate change and strived for promoting business innovation in order to modernize the American power plants. The American climate change policies are affected by the domestic political debates，party politics. Therefore，if U.S. Democratic Presidential Candidate Hillary Clinton is elected U.S. president，Clinton would inherit the Obama Administration’s climate change policies to a large extent. Given the strategic influence of China’s rise，the next American Administration may further strengthen bilateral climate cooperation with China，regard it as a means of balancing China’s rise.
