Abstract:In the year of 2018，Portuguese-speaking countries have overall experienced economic recovery and growth，moving forward through twists and turns. These economies declined at an average rate of 6.9%，with a total GDP of MYM2.27 trillion. The public debt was generally under control，while the national debt burdens increased in some countries. Most countries have adhered to the multilateral trading system and “special and differential treatment provisions”. The total value of trade in imported and exported commodities amounted to MYM656.396 billion，with a 10.45% year-on-year increase on average. Several challenges were encountered in attracting foreign investment and investing overseas，which showed a downward tendency. General elections took place in 6 Portuguese-speaking countries，while social stability was ensured during and after the elections. The cooperation between China and Portuguese-speaking countries has been enhanced via bilateral and multilateral cooperation mechanisms under the framework of Forum Macao. The commodity value of imports and exports between China and Portuguese-speaking Countries totaled MYM147.354 billion，with a year-on-year increase of 25.31%. Chinese companies have been willing to consider Portuguese-speaking countries as FDI destinations and the cooperation on infrastructure construction has been in constant progress under the Belt and Road Initiative.
