Abstract:The Transitional Government of the Sudan, established on 5 September 2019,is a result of a compromise between the military and the opposition coalition, whose function is to govern the country during the transitional period, together with the Sovereignty Council and the Transitional Parliament, with the primary task of achieving domestic peace and economic development. In terms of its governance over half a year, the Transitional Government have yielded some results. In the aspect of internal affairs, the Transitional Government has been actively creating a stable internal environment, removing the remnants of the former regime, and promoting the peace talks with armed groups in Darfur and the “two areas”. On the diplomatic front, the Transitional Government has been actively seeking external economic assistance and working to push the United States to remove the Sudan from the list of countries supporting terrorism. After more than half a year’s efforts, the Transitional Government has basically consolidated its position of participation in state management and achieved overall stability in the domestic situation. However, the Transitional Government has failed to lift the Sudan’s economy out of the woods, while inflation continues to rise and livelihood problems remains serious. If its economic reform and development efforts continue to be ineffective, the Transitional Government may find it difficult to help the Sudan make a smooth transition.
