万国身经奇世界——曾纪泽的照相经验辑录

Abstract:In the 1830s，Europeans invented photographic technology，which was introduced into China in the 1840s. Scholars in the late Qing Dynasty，such as Zeng Jize，first came into contact with European photographic techniques，and used them to take photos of their parents and display them as relics. From “portrait” to “photography”，in the late Qing Dynasty，which was full of “controversy”，Zeng Jize took the lead in contacting Western photography technology. His photographic experience and habits in Europe were also his acceptance and adaptation to western modern civilization as a scholar in the late Qing Dynasty，and he took it as a part of his life. His case can reflect a beautiful aspect of modern Sino-Western exchanges. From the perspective of social life history，this paper compiles and analyzes Zeng Jize’s photographic experiences，verifies his domestic photo studios and photographers with the help of the Internet，foreign language journals，diary historical materials，etc.，outlines his photographic history at home and abroad，and reconstructs the acceptance and wide application of modern science and technology in the world by the modern Chinese intellectuals represented by Zeng Jize. At the same time，Zeng Jize’s photography had also become an important element of “media” shaping. It has the role of social media and is of great value in shaping personal image.
