Abstract:The turbulent political situation of 2022 had an evident impact on the international drug situation. Meanwhile，the adverse effects of cannabis legalization in some countries and regions in recent years have attracted increasing attention of the international community. Moreover，some recent drug issues，including the increase in cocaine production and older people drug users，have become more severe in 2022. Overall，the turbulent political situation and complicated drug situation are challenging the current international drug control system. To solve this problem，the UNODC，the Commission on Narcotic Drugs，and the International Narcotics Control Board cooperated with their member states and some international non-governmental organisations，such as the International Drug Policy Consortium，to seek common ground and consensus while reserving differences to improve the global governance on drug issues. The Chinese government actively supported these endeavours and the international drug control conventions of the United Nations. Moreover，it has used the link of the Shanghai Cooperation and the BRICS to prompt international drug control cooperation and played an increasingly important role in the global governance of drugs.
