Abstract:Umemoto Katsumi was a famous Marxist scholar and philosopher after World War II in Japan. Based on the specific historical situation after World War II in Japan，Umemoto crossed the fields of economics，political science，ethics and other disciplines，and combined many theoretical resources from the East and the West，such as Japanese religious thought，Kyoto School philosophy，existentialism，Marxism and so on，took the lead in raising the issue of subjectivity in the field of philosophy，which caused a famous debate on subjectivity in the history of Japanese thought，and had a far-reaching influence on the Japanese academics. It could be said that Umemoto’s philosophical thought represented the peak of Japan’s subjectivity theory after World War II. However，at present，domestic scholars knew very little about Umemoto’s subjectivity thought，not to mention in-depth research.. By introducing the life，works and subjectivity theory of Umemoto，this paper summarized the relevant research results of Chinese，Japanese and other foreign scholars，comprehensively and systematically showed its key research issues，and provided some useful references for the further deepening of the study of Umemoto’s philosophical thought.
