Abstract:The history of the Qing Dynasty（from 1644 to 1911）was an important turning point in world history. It was also during this period of time that China meet more collisions and fusions with European and American countries. During the past 200 years，foreign missionaries，diplomatic missions，businessmen，explorers，etc. have come to China. They recorded what they saw and heard in China，leaving a lot of information. Because of the different angle，thinking pattern，and writing habits，western countries often draw unexpected viewpoints and conclusions from the same historical data. Zhang Cheng’s Diary is a travel diary of Zhang Cheng，a French Jesuit in early Qing Dynasty. Because of his special status，he participated in some important historical events during Kangxi period. His diary records various relationship and social issues during Kangxi period from the perspective of the other，especially the relationship with northern Mongolian which provide an important foundation for people to understand the implementation of ethnic policy of the Qing Dynasty’s and the formation of the unity of a multi-ethnic country.
