Abstract:In 2018，both Sino-US and Russian-US competition intensified，and the Sino-US relationship became the most important factor affecting the changes in world patterns. The “US exit” and “Chinese expansion” in international organizations and multilateral institutions exacerbated the process of deconstruction and reconstruction in the post—World WarⅡinternational system. The situations in Syria，Yemen，the Korean Peninsula，and the Middle East remained tense，but they began to show signs of becoming more peaceful. With the populist momentum and the competition among the major powers，multilateral global governance and global agendas suffered setbacks. China now faces both positive and negative changes in its security situation，with military exercises against China adding to the instability along China’s periphery. With the advance of the “Belt and Road Initiative，” risks and challenges are increasing. Protection of China’s overseas security interests has become more complicated and difficult.
