Abstract:On 5 December 2017，Michael I，the last king of Romania died on the eve of the centennial anniversary of Rmannia’s Great Unification. During the past hundred years，four members from the Romanian royal family had successively come to the throne. They participated in the foundation and consolidation of the modern Romanian state，playing the roles of policymaker or witnesses in many major historic events. Based on a review of the literature，this article discusses the following two questions：（1） what factors influenced the decision-making of the royal family （including kings and other important members） in some major events？ （2） what is the significance of constitutional monarchy to the modern history of Romania？
