Abstract:In September 2015，Russia directly intervened in the Syrian war. Over the past five years，Russia has been standing firmly in the region，competing and confronting with the United States in the region at the global level while consolidating，restoring and opening up a number of bilateral and multilateral relations at the regional level. It has gradually increased its influence on the region，and harvested strategic interests in economy as well as in security. In 2019，Russia continued to take Syria as the fulcrum to double down in the Middle East，striving for a breakthrough on the basis of consolidating vested interests to maximize its own interests. Russia has fully demonstrated the distinctive characteristics of its great power diplomacy，but there are still some limitations in its function and effect.
