Abstract:Over the past 20 years，with the rise of the Asia-Pacific economy as the center of global economic growth，the rapid urbanization of the Asia-Pacific region has not only formed a large-scale urban system，but also continued to increase its status in the global urban network.Furthermore，there have appeared transnational urban corridors and mega-urban areas and other diversified new urban forms in the area.However，urbanization in Asia and the Pacific is scattered and uneven，while urban sprawl and low density development have brought many challenges and problems to the inclusive and sustainable development of cities and urban governance.In the future，urbanization in the Asia-Pacific region will require a shift away from the chaotic，low-density and high-cost development model of the past，taking full advantage of its demographic dividend and economic transformation，and promoting more inclusive urban prosperity and innovation.
