Abstract:National and regional studies are a national academic project which serves the central government’s external work，but in the existing subject catalog，it is difficult to find them established as an independent discipline. The division of modern disciplines is based on the materialized view of scientism and there is a structural contradiction with the methodology system of human-centered holistic view of national and regional studies. National and regional studies transform knowledge from a highly abstract symbolic system and conceptual framework to a holistic knowledge organization centred on substantive research objects. In the process of China’s rise from a regional power to a global power，such studies can provide strong intellectual support.
