Abstract:The Global Financial Center Index published by Z/Yen Group is one of the most widely used reports to evaluate financial centers. In the long term，the ratings of the top financial centers in all regions are increasing，but differences exist between regions. The development of top financial centers in Western Europe，North America and Asia/pacific regions becomes better than the other regions while the performance of Asia/pacific regions are growing rapidly，with the trend of overtaking the seats of European and American cities grually. There are more Chinese cities entering the Global Financial Center Index，and their reputation advantages also increase. Since Guangzhou entered the Global Financial Center Index in 2017，its rank and rating have increased for two consecutive reports. Guangzhou’s profile has also been improved，but Guangzhou still has a long way to achieve the level of leading international financial centers. This article used The Global Financial Center Index report as a reference to propose suggestions of how Guangzhou can further built itself as an international financial center.
