Abstract:The Cultural Industries Fund is one of the important tools to support the development of cultural industries in the Macau Special Administrative Region. Since its inauguration in 2014，it has played a positive role in promoting the development concept of cultural industries. The Fund has modified the sponsorship application workflow in 2016 and 2017 by introducing diversified services and expanding channels of dissemination，thus improved the rate of approval. Scores on originality and business sustainability of applications over the past two years have improved，whereas improvements are necessary for the feasibility of projects，as applications emphasize on social benefits rather than economic benefits. The execution of sponsored projects have generally been good，with some beginning to generate economic yield while some others bringing long-term social benefits. The Fund continues to improve sponsorship services in 2018 by introducing community-level thematic sponsorship projects in order to promote Macau as a member of the UNESCO Creative Cities Network in Gastronomy.
