澳门高等院校旅游教育的基础、特色及趋势

Abstract:The continual prosperity of tourism in Macau has resulted in a huge demand for human resources. More importantly，the upgrading of infrastructure and facilities，modern management practices and fierce market competition have drastically raised the expectations of tourism-related enterprises on the knowledge and skills of their staff，further stimulating and pushing forward the development of tourism education and research. Macau’s tourism education has developed its own features over the years，and the strengths primarily lie with the international learning environment，globally recognized quality，platform for international collaboration and world class practicum opportunities. On the other hand，tourism education in Macau is also constrained by a number of challenges，such as the relatively weak disciplinary status of tourism studies，lack of economic scale，difficulty in faculty development and inadequate research outputs. The two national strategies，namely the initiative of “the Belt and Road” and the construction of “Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macau Greater Area”，both have accorded strong support to tourism development and education. Macau should take full advantage of the favorable policy environment，and endeavor to become an established base for tourism education and training by leveraging on its strengths and regular self-enhancement.
