太平洋岛国报纸上的中国形象——以巴新、萨摩亚、斐济报纸为中心的考察

Abstract:The Pacific Island countries are located along the south line of the 21st Century Maritime Silk Road. It helps to enhance the relations between China and the Pacific Island countries. China is an important trading partner and one of the largest donor countries to the Pacific Island countries. However，there are different views on China’s aid activities. Some regional observers and government officials are even anxious about China’s aid. They are worried that China will replace the United States’ status and re-establish a new regional order. The image in the newspapers is directly related to China’s “soft power”. Therefore，the Chinese government should 1） deepen its communication with the Pacific Island countries’ governments and rectify the existing prejudices，2） enhance people-to-people communication and pay more attention to people’s basic needs，3） handle properly the relations with other powers in the South Pacific region，4） create conditions for Chinese enterprises to invest in these countries，reduce their burden and enhance their vitality and competitiveness.
