Abstract:The Randstad in Netherlands is an important region of population aggregation and economy development and a typical example for the polycentric urban region. On spatial structure，the Randstad is encircled by the layout around the green heart of metropolis，and having many centers such as Amsterdam，Rotterdam，The Hague and Utrecht etc. The spatial structure is an order of concentrates and disperses. On regional cooperation，The Randstad displays characteristics of functional network division，traffic gear development and multivariate and elasticity cooperation mechanism. The polycentric urban agglomeration in Randstad has avoided big city disease such as traffic congestion and high house price，has become a kind of trend of regional distribution. The experience of the Randstad is studied for building urban agglomeration，such as planning the spatial distribution of urban agglomeration，making traffic gear development，protecting ecological space，building multivariate flexible cooperation mechanism.
