Abstract:Southeast Asia has been a prime destination for Chinese emigrants throughout history，where the number and distribution of local ethnic Chinese have no match among overseas Chinese communities in the rest of the world.The number of Ethnic Chinese in ASEAN countries-Singapore，Malaysia，Thailand，the Philippines，Indonesia was nearly 30 million in 2011，which accounted for 60 percent of all overseas Chinese.With the development of political democratization in Southeast Asian countries and the further ethnic Chinese integration into the local community，ethnic Chinese policy has been gradually relaxed，and political participation of ethnic Chinese makes new progress in 21st century.After the Asian Financial Crisis of 1997，ethnic Chinese business actvities in Southeast Asia have shown vigor and vitality，ethnic Chinese capital grows increasingly，and ethnic Chinese businesses are a powerful economic force，which have entrenched themselves in real estate，finance，commerce，agriculture and some manufacturing industries.
