Abstract:In 2008，EU，under the leadership of France，in order to promote social stability and common development，adopted the European Pact on Immigration and Asylum，establishing the framework for a joint asylum policy.This move not only marks a new step forward of the EU political integration but also advances new challenges and issues for the international refugee protection system and the handling of illegal immigration.Given the globalization process and the current international political situation，asylum seekers and illegal immigrants will put long lasting pressure on EU.Going beyond the geographical boundaries and taking the responsibilities of large countries will be the development direction of the EU asylum policy.
