Abstract:Mongolia held the 6th parliamentary election in June, 2012 since its change of the system of government. In this election preceded by a series of unusual measures such as the revision of election laws, the early withdrawal of the Democratic Party from the coalition government, and the arrest of the ex-president by the Anti-corruption Bureau, the Democratic Party became the winner and set up a new coalition government under the direction of itself. Mongolia will hold its 6th Presidential Election in June, 2013. As the election approaches, heated contests have already set in motion with regard to issues like whether the current president will win another term in office and whether the candidates of other political parties can be elected. The economic growth of Mongolia slowed down a bit in 2012 with its GDP growth rate decreasing from 17.3% of the previous year to the present 12.3%, mainly due to global economic recession and Mongolia's export slide caused by unstable policy. The foreign diplomacy of Mongolia maintained its active momentum in 2012, especially having made breakthroughs regarding diplomacies with "the Third Neighboring Countries".Meanwhile, as observer state, Mongolia values its relations with SCO, is willing to develop economic and trade cooperation with it, and is considering to joining the organization as a full member.
