Abstract:The year 2012 is the opening year of the second decade since the founding of SCO. In this year SCO adopted some documents of historic significance such as The Strategic Planning for Mid-term Development, and drew the blueprint for the future development of SCO. The Planning specifies that the priority of SCO's future missions is still the safeguarding of the regional security and stability. The security situation of Central Asia in 2012 is as complex as always. SCO has actively promoted cooperation in the field of security through conducting regular anti-terrorist military maneuver, holding security secretary meeting, enhancing communication and exchange of the drug control departments etc., and has greatly boosted its capability of dealing with new threats and new challenges.
