Abstract:In recent years，as the influence of the SCO has continued to grow，the United States and Western countries have intensified their attention and analysis of the organization. Simultaneously，the West holds significant sway in the regions covered by the SCO，and their perceptions and viewpoints can impact the development of the SCO. Following Russia’s special military operation in Ukraine in 2022，Western think tanks have noticeably increased their focus on the SCO，broadening their research topics and generally adopting a more positive assessment of the organization. In the current context of intensified great power rivalry，particularly among China，the US，and Russia，and growing regional instability and uncertainty，the external environment facing the SCO is increasingly complex. Western think tanks are a crucial source and basis for their foreign policy decision-making. Paying attention to their latest trends and analyses is beneficial for predicting and assessing the future policy directions of the West towards the SCO，and can also provide additional perspectives for the development of the SCO itself.
