Abstract:Multilateralism is a diplomatic concept and development strategy shared by China and Europe. Despite the differences in their understanding of multilateralism and in the way they practise it，both China and Europe are committed to the maintenance of multilateralism and a multipolar world. Against the backdrop of the U.S. attempts to bring the world back into confrontation，multilateralism remains an alternative way to heal the world pattern divided by the U.S. China and Europe still have much space and potential for cooperation on multilateral development agendas such as global governance reform and global challenges，sustainable development，economic and trade cooperation，education and cultural exchanges. France，as a major advocate of European strategic autonomy and a supporter of a multipolar world，also plays a very important role in this regard.
