Abstract:Brunei became ASEAN’s sixth member soon after gaining independence in 1984. Brunei pursues an independent，non-aligned foreign policy of peace and regards ASEAN as the cornerstone of its foreign policy. Guided by the principle of “ASEAN foundation”，Brunei plays an important role in the fields of political security，economic and social culture in the process of construction and development of the ASEAN community，and contributes Brunei’s power and wisdom on maintaining secured region，prosperous economy and harmony social. While promoting the construction and development of the ASEAN community，Brunei has also obtained national political and security guarantees，stable development of diversified economy and harmonious coexistence of society and culture.
