Abstract:Tokyo’s digital economy is expanding. According to the estimate of Cabinet Office of Japan，the added value created by digital economy accounted for 7.56% of Japan’s gross domestic product （GDP） in 2018，with an annual growth rate of 2% compared with 2015. In March 2022，the Economic and Social Research Institute of Cabinet Office published an estimate that the added value generated by the digital industry in 2018 was about 41.4 trillion yen. Last year，Tokyo Digital Service Bureau and Japan Digital Service Office were set up by Tokyo and the Japanese government respectively. For more than a year，the most advanced digital technologies including 5G have been used to realize “Smart Tokyo” with the goal of building a livable city by relying on three pillars（TOKYO Data Highway，digital transformation of public facilities and citizen services（digital transformation of cities）and digital transformation of administration）.
