Abstract:Hemerocallis is a kind of herbaceous flower produced in China. As early as the Spring and Autumn Period，it contained the connotation of forgetting worries. Therefore，it has the name of forgetting grass，and later derived the meaning of appropriate male and filial mother，that is，the alias of appropriate male grass and children flower. After the independent branch of flower and bird painting in the Tang Dynasty，it gradually formed the basic pattern of widely expressing Hemerocallis images in famous works，tomb murals，Buddhist paintings and arts and crafts. In addition to the original intention of forgetting worries and being suitable for men，it also pays attention to the expression of its shape and character. From the Song Dynasty to the Qing Dynasty，Hemerocallis images mainly existed in the context of famous paintings and literati aesthetics. On the basis of forgetting worries and being suitable for men，painters focus on conveying the meaning of filial mother. He also completed a new turn from forgetting sorrow，appropriate man and filial mother to healing sorrow，congratulations and birthday congratulations in drawing motivation.
