“一带一路”沿线国际城市指数（2023）：丝路节点城市实力提升但差距加大，国际合作机遇与挑战并存

Abstract:This report updates the data of node city development and identifies core regions and cities under the Belt and Road Initiative framework by continuing to apply the methodologies and logic of the Belt and Road Initiative Node City Index 2022. Based on the data we can access，the sample of this report contains 138 sample countries and 350 cities. The index system comprises three indicators：the partnership with China，regional influence，development potential，and “Five Cooperation Priorities，” composed of policy coordination，facilities connectivity，unimpeded trade，financial integration，and people-to-people bonds. We identify 38 important node cities primarily in West Europe and Southeast Asia，16 secondary node cities mostly in West Europe and North Europe，and 20 general node cities mostly in Asia. These three types of node cities are the essential space carriers in further promoting the high-quality development of the Belt and Road Initiative. Besides，we define 94 potential node cities mainly located in the Eurasian region. Furthermore，this report analyzes the node cities with excellent performance in “Five Cooperation Priorities” to satisfy customized investment necessities. By analyzing the node function by region，we found a significant gap in node function between different areas，and the gap has widened. The distribution of the top 100 node cities in Europe and Asia tends to be balanced，the node function level in Southeast Asia has improved significantly，opportunities and challenges coexist in West Asia，and South Africa arises an important node this year.
