Abstract:In 2021，with president Cortizo’s limited political capacities，his support rate has fallen，and people’s dissatisfication is increasing with the pandemic control，corruption，governing nontransparency and insufficient fulfilment of campaign promises. The government’s governance capacity has weakened. In 2021，Panama’s economy had a strong recovery. As the pandemic weakens，the government gradually relaxes the restriction of economic activities，and try to restart the economy through active financing. However，public insecurity is worrying，with increasing murder，organized crime and worse drug trafficking. Declining living standards and rising poverty rates result in frequent social protests and strikes. The government promoted its diplomatic activities and paid more attention to the United States. At the same time，Panama has diversitified its diplomacy.
