Abstract:The Global Green Finance Development Index （GGFDI） provides a quantitative measure of green finance development in major global economies. It was developed to support international efforts in scaling up green investment in climate and sustainable development. Indicators in the GGFDI are selected based on the fundamental principles of objectivity，fairness，comparability，and data accessibility. The current indicator system contains three first-level indicators，six second-level indicators，26 third-level indicators，and 54 fourth-level indicators. Among them，there are 35 qualitative indicators，five semi-qualitative indicators，and 14 quantitative indicators. The GGFDI assesses green finance development in three components，1）Policy and Strategy，2）Market and Products，and 3）International Cooperation. This report selects three exogenous variables that may directly affect the three aspects above，namely，economic and fiscal basis，financial market development level，and the level of opening up. The report examines the correlation between these variables and the index. The result indicates a strong positive correlation between the total GGFDI score and the economic and fiscal development level；at the same time，the development of the financial market is positively correlated with the score of the Market and Product.
