Abstract:Although the COVID-19 epidemic has dealt heavy blows and severe challenges to Indonesia’s economy and society，especially the development of the tourism industry，Indonesia has maintained its efforts in the protection of intangible cultural heritage. Indonesia’s achievements in the protection of intangible cultural heritage are mainly reflected in the recognition of international and domestic intangible cultural heritage：In 2021，Gamelan was successfully recognized as a world-class ICH by UNESCO，which enhanced the cultural self-confidence of the Indonesian people. 298 new national ICH were recognized by the Indonesian Intangible Cultural Heritage Commission. In 2022，the herbal medicine（jamu），woven cloth（tenun），bean yeast cake（tempe）and reog mask dance（reog Ponorogo）have been submitted to UNESCO for intangible cultural heritage certification.
