Abstract:Since the “Belt and Road Initiative” was put forward in 2013,Malaysia has experienced three governments, the last two of which came to power as opposition parties. Generally speaking,as the successor government of the opposition party comes to power, the policy stance of the new government will be different from that of the previous government. However, after careful analysis,it can be found that, except for some changes and adjustments, the two new governments of Malaysia basically chose to continue their cooperation with China and actively seek new breakthroughs. The main reasons for quickly bringing relations between the two countries back on track are relevant to the actual demand for continued cooperation with China, the difficulty of finding replacement partners,China’s continued open attitude towards the cooperation between the two countries on the “Belt and Road”,the political strength comparison of Malaysian domestic parties and new leader’s own ruling intentions, the opposition of state governments and related forces, the active support of Chinese political parties and associations in Malaysia, and new leader’s own knowledge and understanding of China and the “Belt and Road” itself should prompt the Malaysian government to undergo brief changes, and so on. It is believed that after this round of changes and adjustments, all parties in Malaysia will be more clearly aware of the important development opportunities and prospects that the “Belt and Road” cooperation between the two countries can bring to Malaysia, and will continue to promote the relationship between the two countries. The National League Government, which had just taken office in early March this year, believes that it will continue to promote this cooperation with China.
