Abstract:The research group tracked and investigated the development and transformation of Kunming in recent years，examined how Kunming pursued its sustainable development with a balance among economy，society，environment，resources and human beings，and worked out a sustainable development model of the city based on urban ecology，sustainable development theory，and by means of case analysis，field research，empirical analysis. Now the city is re-positioning，exploring ways to highlight its local features and raise its level with the big picture in mind. Also，it is pursuing quality economic growth，and advancing government reforms （to streamline administration and delegate power，improve regulation，and upgrade services）. Kunming’s practices are worth learning by other cities across the country.
