文章摘要:在10~15世纪的中日政治交往中,两种源自中国的漆工艺制品——螺钿与雕漆曾作为国家级别的礼物出现。自10世纪起,日本在不断仿制螺钿的过程中,实现了对中国螺钿技术的超越,螺钿器以国礼的身份反赠予中国,不仅彰显了日本斐然的国力,也表达出婉拒加入宋朝册封体系的心思。13~15世纪,雕漆取代螺钿,登上中日上层社会交往的舞台。搜罗雕漆的行为起初只是出于禅僧对唐物的喜爱和佛前礼供之用,至15世纪却被愈发浓厚的政治意味所裹挟。在永乐帝向足利幕府将军义满赏赐大量剔红的同时,义满也不断向前来巡幸的天皇展示唐物雕漆,在雕漆的流动与使用中,暗藏着中日双方当权者宣示政权正统性的策略考量。本文拟从政治视角来讨论中日交往中的螺钿与雕漆,在还原两者与日本社会的互动中,揭示它们发挥政治功用的始末。

Abstract:From the 10th to 15th century,artifacts made of two kinds of Chinese techniques:mother-of-pearl and carved lacquer,once became state gifts in diplomacy between China and Japan. The mother-of-pearl technique in Japan exceeded that in China between the 10th to 12th century. Consequently,artifacts made of it became state gifts to China,not only demonstrating the power of Japan,but also expressing the unwillingness to join the tribu... 展开

Abstract:From the 10th to 15th century,artifacts made of two kinds of Chinese techniques:mother-of-pearl and carved lacquer,once became state gifts in diplomacy between China and Japan. The mother-of-pearl technique in Japan exceeded that in China between the 10th to 12th century. Consequently,artifacts made of it became state gifts to China,not only demonstrating the power of Japan,but also expressing the unwillingness to join the tributary system of the Song Dynasty. From the 13th to 15th century,carved lacquerwares replaced mother-of-pearl lacquerwares and turned into the upper classes’ favorite lacquerwares in Japan. This kind of favor originally started from Zen monks and they often used carved lacquerwares as vessels for offerings. In the 15th century,shogun instead led the trend. The emperor Yongle sent large numbers of carved red lacquerwares to Ashikaga Yoshimitsu and Yoshimitsu exhibited carved lacquerwares to the Mikado. Both of them strategically employed carved lacquer to demonstrate the legitimacy of regime. This paper attempts to discuss mother-of-pearl and carved lacquer in the perspective of diplomacy between China and Japan,and to reveal how they realized political functions through revivifying their interaction with Japan society.
