Abstract:In 2020，presidential and parliamentary elections were held in Croatia. Zoran Milanović from the Social Democratic Party，the largest opposition party in Croatia，was elected as the new president. The ruling party Croatian Democratic Union won the parliamentary election，and its president Andrej Plenković won re-election as prime minister. In regard to economy，Croatia was seriously affected by COVID-19，with the pillar industry tourism suffering heavy losses. Stimulus and rescue measures were introduced，and Croatia joined the European Exchange Rate Mechanism. In terms of international affairs and security，Croatia’s first-ever Presidency of the EU Council in the first half of the year ensured the normal operation of the European Council during the pandemic，demonstrating its capabilities to the European Union. In the social and cultural area，earthquakes and floods were frequent in 2020，aggravating the economic and social situation already hard hit by the pandemic. In China-Croatia relations，the anti-pandemic cooperation became a new highlight，and projects of economic cooperation continued to advance.
