Abstract:The Malaysian automotive industry was established in the 1980s，and has gradually developed into a pillar industry of the national economy. Since 2006，the ruling government has begun to formulate policies and guidelines to direct the development of Malaysian automotive industry，after its ups and downs. In 2017，the troubled Proton made a decision to cooperate with the Geely Auto，which turned out to bring new development. At the beginning of 2020，Malaysia launched the National Automotive Policy 2020 （NAP 2020），pointing out the development direction and goals for automotive industry in the next 10 years. NAP 2020 focuses on Next-Generation Automobiles，Mobility-as-a-Service，the Industrial Reform 4.0，and attempts to lead Malaysian automotive industry to achieve new levels of success.
