Abstract:Compared with major western developed countries，the problem of drug abuse in Japan is not particularly serious. There is a low rate of drug abuse among Japanese people. However，the Japanese government attaches great importance to Combating drug crimes and promotes the construction of a comprehensive drug control system by strengthening publicity and education and combating drug smuggling. The Japanese government has formulated “Five-Year Drug Abuse Prevention Strategy” for five times，which has provided solutions for curbing the spread of drugs，combating drug smuggling，preventing drug abuse and preventing drug crimes，and achieved certain results. The spread of COVID-19 epidemic，a faltering economy and the complex international situation will pose a greater challenge to the future drug control in Japan.
