Abstract:The Tibet Autonomous Region is an important trade portal between China and south Asian countries. China-proposed “The Belt and Road” Initiative will improve Tibet development，and the trade between Tibet and South Asian countries，such as Nepal. This chapter analyzes the industrial competitiveness of the Tibet Autonomous Region，investigates its industries with local advantages and changes in recent years. Tibet has the smallest scale of economy in China，with strength mainly in resource-based industries. Tibet’s industrial added value has experienced rapid growth in recent 20 years. Tibet’s proportion in the industrial added value of China increases year by year. Tibet has advantages in geography，industry and the national policy in the joining in “The Belt and Road”.National strategy of “The Belt and Road” brings a rare historical opportunity for Tibet development. For the leapfrog development of social economy，Tibet should strengthen current superior industries，promote industrial transformation and upgrading，and vigorously develop emerging industries of strategic importance and ecological industry.
