Abstract:The Belt and Road Initiative （BRI） just passed its five-year mark and it has achieved tremendous successes. The BRI is the Chinese solution to enhancing open global cooperation，improving global economic governance，promoting common global development and prosperity，and building a shared future community for mankind. At the same time，the BRI faces new challenges from outside，including major power geopolitical economic competition，anti-globalization populism，and threats of terrorism，extremism，and separatism. However，the BRI is still in great demand from the countries that are actively participating，and the BRI principle of common development with shared prosperity has special significance in our times.
