Abstract:2020 was the first complete year for the coalition government of Democratic Party and Five Star Movement. Departing from the previous coalition government of League and Five Star Movement，the current Italian foreign policy shows the obvious trend of backing to the EU and Western mainstream. During the process of combating COVID-19 pandemic，the Italy-EU relations have been improved，as Italy becomes the biggest beneficiary of the EU common bonds. The Italy-France relations also ameliorated but the competition between Italy and Franco-German axis remains. Affected by the growing geopolitical game between China，the US and the EU，Italy’s pragmatic cooperation with China and Russia faces increasing pressures within the EU and the Atlantic alliance. On the one hand，China’s medical assistance to Italy has made the bilateral cooperation of the two countries continue；On the other hand，Italy excluded Huawei from its 5G core network equipment tender. Moreover，Italy deeply concerns the security situation in Mediterranean area and Africa. Italy’s efforts of mediation and peace-keeping has poor results in Libya，while its bilateral relations with Tunisia and Sahel countries make some headway.
