Abstract:2020 is a year to commemorate many major events in the history of socialist development in Vietnam，and it is also an important milestone in the course of innovation. Facing the challenge of the COVID-19 epidemic sweeping the world，the Communist Party of Vietnam organized various commemorative activities in an orderly manner and actively prepared for the 13th National Congress of the Communist Party of Vietnam，achieving the dual goals of successfully controlling the epidemic and rapid economic growth，demonstrating the superiority of the socialist system. In January 2021，the 13th National Congress of the Communist Party of Vietnam was held to elect the new leadership of the Party and the state，and set the mid and long-term development goals of Vietnam，which is the grand blueprint of striving to build a socialist-oriented developed country by the middle of 21st century. Looking forward to 2021，the National Assembly convened in the first half of the year will complete the rotation of the country’s main leadership positions. Since the third wave of epidemics broke out in Vietnam at the beginning of the year，it has brought new challenges to the new Vietnamese party and state leadership.
