Abstract:In 2012, the Caribbean region was characterized by the overall stability and local turbulence. The regional economy started to recover as a whole; however, inflation, debt crisis and unemployment remained the major economic challenges faced by many countries. The uneven development of education among countries and high frequency of violent crimes were the main problems in the social arena. Moreover, the Caribbean further accelerated its integration into the world economy; developed countries and international financial institutions also made further efforts to offer their economic aid to the region; the Caribbean has become one of China's major destinations of overseas investment.
