Abstract:2011 was the year just before the next presidential election which would take place in 2012. The recognized political developments were the election activities, and almost all key factors emerged in political struggle in 2011, such as the constitutional reform on consecutive reelection limit, the withdrawal from the presidential election and party conflicts. The GDP increased by 4.5%. While the financial deficit decreased, the international trade deficit increased.The inflation was the worst in the past three years. In the social area, the Dominican Republic didn't get an obvious improvement and was still tortured by thorny issues such as poverty and unemployment. Diplomatically it pursued bilateral and multilateral cooperation with more countries, promoting its international status.
