Abstract:In 2010 Chile held the general election. Sebastián Piñera，the presidential candidate from the center-right “Coalition for Change”，won the election，which was for the first time since the return to democracy in the 1990s that the right wing gained the presidency. Piñera sought to unite the center-left parties after he took office in March 2010 and conducted successful crisis management facing a serious of emergencies. Chile attained an economic recovery and had reached the pre-crisis level in April 2010. The Piñera government took vigorous measures to create new job opportunities and promote post-earthquake reconstruction. It is noteworthy that Chile improved the relations with Bolivia and Honduras. In November 2010 President Piñera paid a state visit to China on the 40th anniversary of the establishment of the bilateral diplomatic relations.
