Abstract:2007 was the second year for President Lula in office.In the political field，President Lula reshuffled the cabinet.The ruling coalition and the opposition gained equal footing in the congress.And，new corruption scandals occurred.The economy picked up speed and many of the indicators like trade，foreign direct investment and foreign reserves improved.The number of people living in poverty was reduced；incomes of the workers were rising；and unemployment remained the same compared with the previous year.However，social unrest was still on the rise. Diplomatically，Brazil made some changes to its foreign policies towards the U.S. and Europe.It continued to develop relations with its neighbors and other developing countries，though it could not reach consensus with Venezuela on some issues. Relations with China continued to move forward steadily.
