Abstract:Global smart city constructions are in full swing. First of all，evaluation and assessment of smart city initiatives became more important. In addition to the annual competition held by Intelligent Community Forum，European Union and China both kicked off the design of smart city evaluation indicators. Countries started election of pilot cities，setting a model for smart city constructions. Second，strategies and macro-policies on smart city are becoming more and more perfect. Australia and Brazil published relating national strategies respectively while the United States announced new investment on White House Smart Cities Initiatives. Next，the propelling tactics of smart city construction had great development. The United Nations released report on Smart Cities and Infrastructure to help instruct the design and development of smart cities. The U.S. put forward a toolkit for local communities using partnerships to power smart cities. The mode of Smart Town became popular in China after the 3rd World Internet Conference. Last but not least，smart city innovation technologies such as the Internet of Things continued growing fast but facing real challenges. While application scenarios like virtual reality，intelligent transportation and smart home depicted a smart future for us，there were security vulnerabilities that required careful attention.
