2020年中韩关系发展的机遇与挑战

Abstract:The sudden outbreak of the COVID-19 has had a huge impact on the political diplomacy，economic and trade cooperation and people exchanges between China and South Korea. In the face of the COVID-19，China and the ROK have helped each other to fight the epidemic. This has not only enhanced the friendship between the two peoples，but also set a good example for international cooperation in fighting the epidemic. It has also made the two countries realize the necessity and urgency of strengthening economic and trade cooperation to overcome the current difficulties，creating opportunities for the future development of China-ROK relations. At the same time，there still exist structural contradictions such as the alliance between the ROK and the US，the conservative forces in the ROK and the asymmetric dependence of the ROK，making the future development of China-ROK relations still face severe challenges. In the future，China and South Korea must further strengthen the high-level exchanges，enhance communication regarding the Korean peninsula problem，and promote exchanges and cooperation in economy，epidemic control，diplomaly，security，culture and so on. Thus jointly promoting China-ROK relations in the new historical period to a higher level of development. With the increasingly fierce competition between China and the United States，the strategic choice of South Korea is an important variable affecting the future direction of China-ROK relations.
