Abstract:Croatia is the first Balkan country to formally join the European Union. It is strategically located and has been the meeting point of different civilizations through history. Croatia has rich natural and cultural heritage together with important influence in the region. With the in-depth exploration of its own resources, industrial advantages and economic development possibilities,Croatia began to attach importance to and emphasize the role of cultural and creative industries in promoting social and economic development, gradually developing a more systematic and holistic cultural development plan from the national level. In 2019,Croatia’s cultural development witnessed the following trends:attaching importance to cultural development;improving relevant laws and regulations on cultural governance;actively participating in and making use of EU cultural projects, more actively and objectively displaying and promoting the country’s culture on international stage. It is worth noting that in 2019,the 8th summit of heads of government of China and CEEC was held in Dubrovnik,Croatia, moreover,Croatia actively participated in the “2019 16+1 Education and Youth Exchanges” and co-hosted the “2019 Year of Cultural Tourism” with China for the first time. It can be seen that in the context of the continuous advancement of the “Belt and Road” initiative and the “16+1” cooperation framework,Croatia’s foreign cultural exchanges has shown a new trend this year, that is,more frequent cultural exchanges and cooperation with China.
